Golf Ireland - Sample Itinerary
Sample Itinerary: Brown Family Golfing Tour of Ireland
Client Brief: This tour was a combination of a family celebration and a golfing expedition. There were 15 in the group and not all were golfers but everyone in the group wanted a memorable Irish experience. Go West created an itinerary which met both of these requirements.
Tuesday, 26th June – Day of Arrival – Dublin Airport

On arrival in Ireland the Brown Family was met by their luxury coach driver, Colm at Dublin Airport. Colm transferred them to a 16th century castle located in County Galway which had been hired by Go West for the exclusive use of the Brown family.
That evening, guests relaxed and enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the library. Dinner was prepared by the resident chef and served in the main dining room.
Wednesday, 27th June – Connemara Golf Links and The Aran Islands.
The golfers were transferred to Connemara Golf Links. Designed by Eddie Hackett, Connemara is a 27-hole traditional links course situated between the Twelve Bens Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.
The non golfers were met by a professional tour guide who accompanied them on a full day tour to the Aran Islands. The Aran Islands are richly unique with landscapes of limestone rock, a stretch of cliffs facing the Atlantic Ocean and clean beaches. It is also a place steeped in cultural heritage and history. Gaelic language is the first language of its residents. Inismore has 27 nationally protected monuments - more than anywhere else its size in Ireland or even in Europe. |

After a very satisfying and memorable day, both groups were reunited back in the castle for a relaxing dinner.
Thursday, 28th June – Westport Golf Club & a Tour of Connemara
The golfers did not have to travel far for their second round of Golf in Ireland. The Irish golfing experience continued at Westport golf course which was designed by Fred Hawtree. Although beside the sea, this is not a links course. It's almost pure parkland, on 250 mature acres, with a well-balanced combination of holes and a truly majestic backdrop of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay.
The non golfers enjoyed a scenic tour of Connemara. Accompanied by their tour guide they visited Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park and Clifden village.
That evening after dinner, the group was entertained by the talented solo performer, singer/songwriter Marc Roberts. Marc entertained with a varied repertoire which included well known Irish ballads, modern Irish hits and even some John Denver. The sing song continued late in to the night.
Friday, 29th June - Golf at Dromoland Castle & The Cliffs Of Moher
| The group departed their private castle this morning to Adare Manor, luxurious 5 star accommodation. En route, the golfers enjoy a round of golf at Dromoland Castle. Watched over by the baronial splendour of the castle hotel, the golf course sweeps delightfully around the 375 acres of shady woodlands, open pasture, lakes and streams. Dromoland has for centuries conjured images of opulence, luxury and refined splendour. Today, as one of Ireland’s finest country estates, it is home to a most distinguished golf course. Carefully restored and crafted, the 18 holes that roam the magnificent estate is once again a playground for the Kings. |

Saturday 30th June, Golf Adare Manor & Limerick City
The golfers enjoyed a splendid round at The Adare Golf Club, an 18 hole championship golf course set on the 840 acre estate of Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort. This was the last major golf course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Senior. This majestic design has gained international acclaim as one of his finest creations. Adare Golf Club measures 7,453 yards and uses 230 acres of lush Irish countryside. The exquisite parkland atmosphere of the demesne has been preserved with the course set amid magnificent mature trees. The course contains many aquatic features including a 14 acre lake anchoring the front nine holes. The River Maigue meanders through the entire golf course creating a sense of beauty and challenge.
The non golfers spent the morning relaxing on site in the spa and on the grounds of the Manor.
